Esther Blake, Cory Blake's wife, lost her memory in a fire 20 years ago. She was later taken in by Steve Kemp and married him. They had a son, Chad Kemp. In her 50s, she mainly lived by selling box lunches. Chad forced her to marry Julian Kim, an old bachelor, so that he could have money for his own wedding. Disappointed with her son, Esther married Cory at first sight without knowing that he was actually the richest man in Kouver with five sons. Cory's eldest son, Josh Blake, pretended they were poor to see whether Esther married their father for money, but later, he found that Esther was actually a hardworking, caring mother. While Allan concealed his identity as an international star and peddled food in the street with Esther, Chad brought Julian to them and tried to make Esther give in.
